Promotion to Planning Director

Patti Whelen has been promoted to Director of the Planning Department at Cannon Associates. Ms. Whelen has been with Cannon Associates for five years.
Ms. Whelen specializes in environmental regulation and strategic project design. She originally joined Cannon Associates to work on projects with environmental issues requiring technical and regulatory solutions. During her five years at Cannon Associates, she has sharpened these skills while working with design engineers and technical specialists. Ms. Whelen's ongoing objective is to employ her knowledge of the regulatory system to ensure that projects are designed and managed successful without delays and liabilities.
As Director, she will lead the planning group in their quest to provide creative solutions for land use and development projects. Her understanding of environmental and regulatory issues will provide a firm platform from which to provide technical solutions.
Ms. Whelen is a native to San Luis Obispo County. She received her undergraduate degree from UCSB and went on to receive her Juris Doctorate from Northwestern School of Law (Lewis & Clark College) in Portland, Oregon.
Cannon Associates, with offices in both San Luis Obispo and Bakersfield, specializes in a variety of areas that include development, energy, environmental, food processing/wineries, public works, water supply and sanitation and schools and institutions.
